In another life, Korean-born Gayeon Lee might have been a sculptor or a painter. Instead, she is a celebrated young fashion designer who expresses her passion for fine art in her imaginative creations. Lee is known for her unique silhouettes, which have been described as enchanting and effortlessly elegant. She finds inspiration in the past and the present, the art world and the real world. Sketchbook in hand, Lee prowls through book stores and libraries, searching for beautiful fashion images. She also visits vintage and luxury clothing shops for the invaluable experience of touching garments and seeing first-hand how they are made. Finally, Lee watches people. Women -- the very women she dresses -- are her real muse. “They always inspire me or interest me,” she says. Lady Gaga, an international style icon famous for her cutting-edge approach to fashion, paid homage to Gayeon Lee’s singular talent by wearing a selection of her sophisticated, yet playfully unpredictable, designs during her Artpop tour.
